Christmas Classics
Let’s start with the movies that don’t feel like Christmas unless you watch them or at least hear about them. The ones that were always on TV when you were at home and are now part of the nostalgia of those holiday days:
Home Alone
One of the most iconic Christmas movies ever, where a young boy accidentally left home alone must cleverly defend his house from burglars.
Christmas with the Kranks
A holiday comedy that shows how breaking with Christmas traditions can cause chaos… and also some very heartfelt moments.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
A classic story about the true meaning of Christmas, filled with humor, unforgettable characters, and festive magic.
The Santa Clause (1, 2 & 3)
A must-watch saga that follows the story of an ordinary man who, by accident, becomes Santa Claus.
Where to watch:
Available on Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, or through digital rental platforms.
Romantic Christmas Comedies
Now let’s move on to those fun movies that often become guilty pleasures. We know the story is usually the same (a city girl travels to a small town, meets a guy, and learns that Christmas is about being with the people you love, or something similar), but we keep watching them anyway — and we still enjoy them… at least some of them:
Hot Frosty
Weird? Maybe. After all, it’s not every day that a snowman turns into a real person — but it’s fun too. A light and entertaining romantic comedy that mixes winter charm with an unexpected love story, perfect for a relaxed night in.
Love Hard
A modern Christmas rom-com that explores online dating, romantic expectations, and the surprises the holiday season can bring.
Our Little Secret
Can you imagine spending Christmas… with your ex? A movie that blends romance and emotions, focusing on past relationships, family secrets, and second chances during the holidays.
Dash & Lily (Series)
Okay, this one isn’t a movie, but it’s a refreshing alternative to the usual holiday films and it’s set during Christmas. A romantic Christmas series set in New York, where two strangers connect through a notebook and a series of dares throughout the season.
The Holiday
A modern classic of Christmas romantic comedies about a house swap, unexpected love, and the true spirit of the holidays.
Where to watch:
Mainly available on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, depending on regional availability.
Christmas Action Movies
If you’re looking for something a bit more fast-paced but still full of Christmas spirit, here are some of my recommendations:
Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special
A different kind of Christmas special that mixes action, humor, and emotion with Marvel’s unmistakable style. Do you need to watch the previous movies? Probably, to understand who’s who — but it might just be the perfect excuse for a Marvel marathon.
Red One
A modern Christmas action movie that reinvents the Santa Claus myth with a dynamic and entertaining approach.
Where to watch:
Available on Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video.
These are some of our favorites, but every year brings new releases, so this list will surely keep growing. Do you have any recommendations?
